Son Doong, the largest cave in the world, is ranked third in the list, after the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru and the cultural, music and arts festival 'Burning Man' in Nevada. According to the article, there are less than 300 spaces that remain for tours to explore Son Doong cave.
The article writes: “The incredible depths of the world’s largest cave lures in travelers who want a true adventure. But the arduous journey into this subterranean site makes booking a trek essential. The major tour operator that takes travelers inside, Oxalis Adventure Tours, says on its website that less than 300 spaces remain for 2019 tours. If you want to make it happen – or get on the waiting list for 2020".
Son Doong Cave has been recognized as the largest of its kind in the world by three international organizations, including Guinness (based in the UK), the Association World Record (based in Hong Kong) and World Kings (based in the U.S. and India).
This year, Quang Binh's Department of Tourism will carry out the program to explore a 600m long underwater pathway inside the cave. If the expedition succeeds, Son Doong Cave system will be much larger than its current record.
