Sea travel to reduce costs for mango exporters

by VTV414 March 2017 Last updated at 06:22 AM

VTV.vn - September 2016 saw the first batch of Vietnamese mangoes arrive in Australia by air.

Exporters are still working out ways to cheapen delivery costs for sustainable business with this market. Suoi Lon Mangoes Cooperative of Dong Nai Province is currently experimenting with a new preservation method for mangoes. This is to ensure that the mangoes stay in prime condition during sea travel. If proven successful, this could greatly reduce shipping costs and boost profits for farmers. The locality currently hosts 300 hectares of mango trees and has sealed contracts with 2 Australian importers to bring them 18 tons of mangoes per day.
