The event coincides with the Dien Bien Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival. It is an annual event that usually takes place in the middle of March. This is also the time when the Dien Bien Phu Campaign is commemorated. It marked a great victory and milestone in Vietnam's history of revolutions and liberation. Activities at the event also include honouring the cultural diversity of the 19 ethnic groups in the province. The event will run till March 14th.
