Politburo member Nen spoke highly of the association’s operations in recent years, while praising the active efforts and contributions made by its employees to the city’s common development.
He asked the association to continue promoting its role and create favourable conditions for press agencies and journalists to share their experience and improve their profession in the process of covering events in the city.
On Monday, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association, the municipal Department of Information and Communications, the municipal Department of Health, and the Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital jointly organised a COVID-19 vaccination drive for nearly 300 journalists from local press agencies and the representative offices of central media agencies in the city.
Meeting with correspondents immunised at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists’ Association, Nen extended his regards and encouragement, asking them to continue upholding the tradition of the Vietnamese revolutionary press in successfully performing their tasks as journalists, especially during this peak period in which Ho Chi Minh City is joining hands with the whole nation to combat the pandemic..
* On the same day, the Journalists’ Association of Can Tho City, in coordination with the municipal Department of Information and Communications, held a get-together to celebrate the 96th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and give out the 15th Phan Ngoc Hien Press Awards.

This year, a total of 152 press works from 48 authors and 67 groups of authors were submitted for the awards, themed “Successfully implementing the resolutions of all-level Party congresses and the 13th National Party Congress (2020-2025 tenure).”
The submissions comprehensively reflected aspects of the socio-economic, national defence and security life of localities in the Mekong Delta, especially issues related to the development of the Mekong Delta region with climate change adaptation.
Among the 53 works eligible for the final round, the organising committee decided to grant the award to the 37 most outstanding, including four first prizes, eight second prizes, 12 third prizes and 13 consolation prizes.
