VTV.vn - With rainy season just around the corner, the central province of Quang Nam is preparing to respond.

The authority is focusing on repairing traffic systems and providing essential commodities. One of the most important tasks is transporting rice to the mountainous communes.

Currently, rice is being transported to nearly 1000 households and several schools in 5 mountainous communes. To date, Phuoc Loc Commune, the farthest area in Phuoc Son District with 847 citizens, has received 5 tonnes of rices.

The average poverty reduction rate in the mountainous areas of Quang Nam over the last few years has reached 6.34%. This means that demand for food aid has been reduced. However, in many localities, the authority still has to provide food for the residents.

"We have 2 solutions in carrying out the reserve food distribution plan: first, we build district’s funds to timely respond to people in need. Second, if the cost exceeds the local budget, we will ask for the district’s support", said Vo Van Ba, Head, Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs, Phuoc Son Commune, Quang Nam Province.

In the mountainous areas, local residents often face a shortage of food due to difficult traffic. Therefore, over the past year, the rice storage model has been applied across 9 mountainous districts in Quang nam province. This is one of many government efforts to actively support resident’s lives.
