The fair not only provides an opportunity for local farmers to be exposed to new technologies, but it's also a place where people in the city can buy environmentally-friendly seedlings and other agriculture products made by the hands of the local farmers.
Drawing on previous experience, this time, Huỳnh Văn Dũng from Sơn Châu ornamental plant village in Bến Tre Province has come early to prepare his booth. At the last fair, not only did he earn more than $1,300 from selling seedlings, but he also signed many trade contracts of high value. However, the most important thing that he gained at the last fair was the chance to learn from other experienced gardeners.
"After many times attending the fair, I can see the rise in my own profit. Also, I recieved many other benefits, such as a chance to meet with the city's residents, local farmers, and especially other gardeners. I learned a lot by exchanging our experiences", said Huynh Van Dung, Son Chau Ornamental Plant Village, Ben Tre Province.
This agriculture cooperative also uses the fair as an opportunity to introduce its key urban agriculture products: lingzhi mushrooms, grown directly by local farmers following VietGap's standards.
"Today we bring orchids and orchid seedlings to the fair, as well as lingzhi mushrooms and lingzhi tea. They are all cleanly produced, with no chemicals or growth medicines whatsoever", Le Thi My Phuoc, President, Ngoc Diem Agriculture, Trade and Service Cooperative.
With 161 booths displaying all kinds of man-made high quality urban agriculture products, the fair provides an opportunity for local farmers to be exposed to new technologies in production and learn about the effective use of materials, improving the connection between agriculture producers, businesses, and distributors. The fair is scheduled to last until October 4.
