VTV.vn - A repatriation ceremony was held at the Military Forensic Institute in Hanoi, on September 24.

The ceremony featured the participation of representatives of the board of directors of the Vietnamese Office for Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP), US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink and representatives from the US MIA Office in Hanoi.

At the event, a representative from the Vietnamese side handed over a set of remains of a fallen soldier, found during the 140th Joint Field Activities from June to September this year, to the US side.

The remains have been examined by Vietnamese forensic experts who said they could be related to US soldiers. The remains will be transferred to the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency's laboratory in Hawaii for further tests.

Addressing at the repatriation ceremony, US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink expressed deep gratitude and high appreciation for the full and effective cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people.

He stressed the commitment of the US to continue supporting Vietnam in searching for and gathering the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who went missing during the war as well as in addressing war consequences.
