The operations comprised three cases of heart, four of liver, and 16 of kidney transplants, with 15 organs taken from donors.
Each surgery was successful, serving to prove the capabilities of medical experts and doctors at the hospital.
The cardiovascular and thoracic centre performed two heart transplants on two consecutive days, September 11 and 12, for the first time ever. The first patient was a 33-year-old from Thanh Hoa province who had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy five years previously, and the other was a 52-year-old, also from Thanh Hoa, who was suffering from cardiomyopathy for several years and received an organ during the operation.
The Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital is the leading medical facility in the country in conducting multi-organ transplants. It also supports other medical facilities and contributes to saving the lives of many patients through the use of modern technology.
