Regarding the compensation disbursement to local residents in the central region of Vietnam after the Formosa incident, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh requested all municipals and localities to hasten the disbursement process. The process must be transparent and completed by the end of 2016.
Local governments also need to identify their losses to support local residents with appropriate measures to help them resume production. Unsafe seafood that are unsafe must be destroyed. Local residents would receive 100% total value of the destroyed products, 100% money for cost of electricity, and the cost of destruction. For aqua-products that meet the food safety requirements, local residents receive compensation worth of 30% of the total value of the products, 100% cost of electricity and 100% interest rate. The Ministry of Health will continue getting samples of aquaculture products and will announce the results by the end of December.
