Prolonged rains and landslides forecasted for the North

VTV.vn - According to forecasts, from now till July 22nd, the northern region of Vietnam will continue to experience heavy rains, especially in the midland and mountainous districts with precipitation of 20 to 70 milimetres.

Rain will be hardest on the night of July 20th, with precipitation exceeding 80 milimetres. There is a high risk of prolonged rains, storms and landsides in the northern mountainous area, especially Lào Cai, Yên Bái, Lai Châu, Sơn La, Điện Biên, Hà Giang, Hoà Bình, Bắc Cạn. In the next 12 to 24 hours, the water level of the Thao Rier will decrease. The river that passes Yên Bái City is forecast to have a water level of 0.2 to 0.7 milimetres above alarm level 1.
