Prime Minister requires urgent measures to overcome consequences of storm Wipha

VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a Notice No.937/CD-TTg, requiring to take proactive measures against storm Wipha, which has caused havoc in northern region over the past days.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister asked the Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and other localities to evacuate their residents from dangerous areas, and arrange contemporary accommodation for those who lost their house due to the storm. Highest attention is requested to seek those who are still missing.

He asked the National Steering Committee for response to incidents, natural disasters and search and rescues, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Public Security to direct the Military Zone 4 and forces stationing in the storm-hit provinces to step up the search and rescue missions and support locals to overcome the consequences of the storm.

The Ministry of Transport is tasked to inspect and quickly fix any incidents on national highways and assist localities to overcome landslides and congestion on the main transport axes, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are required to supervise and ensure the safety of reservoirs and hydropower dams, which were affected by floods.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment must direct hydro-meteorological forecasting central to keep close watch on the situation in order to make prompt forecasts and warning messages for people and relevant agencies.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control is asked to closely work with functional ministries and agencies to review the situation and make proposals for the Prime Minister to assist storm-hit localities.
