At the talk, State President Truong Tan Sang applauded the great contributions by Lao Deputy PM Somsavat Lengsavad to Laos' achievements in socio-economic development over the past years as well as strengthening special friendly relations between the two nations. Somsavat Lengsavad in turn conveyed best regards from the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and state leaders to their Vietnamese counterparts and briefed President Sang on the outcome of the talks between the two governments' leaders. The deputy PM asked the two sides to push ahead with coordination mechanisms to facilitate the operational efficiency of their ministries, sectors and localities and promised to work hand in hand with government leaders to alleviate difficulties for businesses.
PM Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted the significance of bilateral economic co-operation in relations between Laos and Vietnam. He also believed that both sides should step up measures to resolve problems still existing in trade and investment relations, thus maximising the co-operation between the two nations.
