Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Nguyen Thiep thanked the authorities of Montreuil city for holding such a special ceremony, which expressed the time-honoured friendship between generations of the French and Vietnamese peoples.
He emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh, a hero of national liberation and a man of culture, devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation. He led the nation of Vietnam in achieving various victories on the road to socialism.
He also struggled for peace, independence, friendship and solidarity between peoples and for the well-being of all people around the world, Thiep noted.
Mayor of Montreuil City Patrice Bessac offered his congratulations on President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and expressed his honour to be participating in the celebration of the former President’s birthday.
* On the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine and a local language school named after President Ho Chi Minh held an award ceremony for the winners of an online writing contest on President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam that was launched a month ago among students of the school.
The three most outstanding entries by both Ukrainian and Vietnamese students were presented with awards at the ceremony.
Previously, the Vietnamese Association in Kharkov Province organised an online ‘Ring the Golden Bell’ contest on Uncle Ho for children who are attending Vietnamese classes in the province to mark the 130th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s birthday.
