The municipal Labour Confederation presented a total of VND1.5 billion (US$64,200) to 1,500 workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, Trade Unions at all levels in the city have mobilised enterprises to assist workers affected by the pandemic with financial support totalling nearly VND11 billion (US$471,300).
Quang Tri Town, in the central province of Quang Tri, began to provide financial support to local people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on May 14 following the Government social welfare package.
This is the first locality in the province to have carried out this practical activity, which has provided over VND3.1 billion (US$132,800) to 2,561 affected people.
On May 14, T&T Group donated VND720 million (US$30,800) to Vietnam Fatherland Front chapter in Hai Duong Province to dispense to needy people affected by the pandemic in the province.
The group, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front chapter in Vinh Phuc Province, also presented 700 gifts worth a total of VND700 million to needy and policy beneficiary people in the province on May 14.
Overall, the group expects to provide financial support of VND20 billion (US$856,900) to affected people in 28 provinces and cities across the country.
