According to meteorological statistics, the incoming tropical depression has the possibility of turning into a storm, bringing heavy rains over extended periods to Da Nang.
The steering committee for natural disaster prevention and control has asked units managing water bodies and dams in the city to be on 24/7 alert, monitor water levels, and prepare evacuation plans.
The city will also have to work through its options to effectively drain water and prevent flooding. The steering committee has also asked border guards and local authorities to call on offshore boats and fishermen to return to shore.
The committee has asked Da Nang to work through different scenarios to reduce the impact of any unfavourable weather conditions and ensure the safety of activities during APEC week.
