On the evening of October 4th, Vietnam Television held the premiere of the documentary "Doctor Tran Duy Hung - A Hanoi Dignity" at Studio S7. This event is part of the Hanoi Documentary Film Week and also marks the first offline screening in this series, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024). The screening attracted a large audience, especially young viewers.
The event began with two Hanoi-themed songs, "Mot Thoang Tay Ho" and "Ha Noi 12 mua hoa", performed by artists Vu Quang Thien and Phuong Anh. Following the performance, the special guests of the screening, Ms. Tran Anh Tuyet, daughter of the late Doctor Tran Duy Hung, and director Hang Giang, interacted with the audience. During the screening, Ms. Anh Tuyet was deeply moved while watching the footage of her father and shared stories about him.
"My father was a very simple, sincere man with the elegance and grace typical of Hanoians. I remember when I was 12 years old, he took me for a ride around West Lake. Back then, West Lake was still wild and desolate. After driving for a while, he told me, 'In the future, West Lake will be renovated and become more magnificent and orderly. I may not live to see it, but you will.' My father deeply loved Hanoi and was proud ofit ," she recalled.
The daughter of Doctor Tran Duy Hung also spoke of his affection and faith in Hanoi, believing that our capital would become wealthier and more beautiful.
Meanwhile, director Hang Giang expressed his excitement as the footage of Doctor Tran Duy Hung was shown to the audience. "To help everyone better understand the portrait, personality, and actions of Doctor Tran Duy Hung during his time as Chairman of Hanoi, we have tried to find people who witnessed and worked under his leadership," the director said.
"Doctor Tran Duy Hung - A Hanoi Dignity" is a 25-minute documentary that uses the events and contributions of Doctor Tran Duy Hung – the Mayor of Hanoi during the early days of the country's establishment – to highlight a period of the capital within a unique historical context.
