In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day, the Hanoi People's Committee, in collaboration with Vietnam Television, has produced a political art program entitled Hanoi - The Epic of the Streets. This program is a blend of music and art, recalling the glorious historical days of the capital and the continuation of today’s generation in preserving peace, fostering creativity, and promoting Hanoi's rich cultural heritage.
With three main segments: Battlefields in the City, Nine Years with the Capital in our Hearts, and Hanoi’s Song, the program will take the audience back to the historical stories of Hanoi, meeting witnesses from 70 years ago, and even further back to nearly 80 years ago when the nationwide resistance war began. Hanoi was the first to hear the gunshots that signaled the great battle of the nation. The story of October 10 - the glorious day when the nation achieved freedom - will be told through archival footage, eyewitness interviews, music, and films, instilling a deep sense of historical pride to the audience.
The program will feature many historical witnesses from that era. Among them is Meritorious Artist Phung De, a veteran battlefield filmmaker, who, as a 13-year-old military runner inside the citadel during the 60-day-and-night battle to defend Hanoi in 1946, witnessed the historic retreat on February 17, 1947. Or Mrs. Pham Thi Vien, then a 22-year-old female militia member of the Mai Dong Mechanical Plant, who, with a white mourning scarf on her head, bravely stood by the anti-aircraft gun, defending Hanoi's skies and helping to bring down the F.111A aircraft on the night of December 22, 1972.
“The message of Hanoi - The Epic of the Streets that we want to convey to the audience is simple. We created this program out of love and pride for Hanoi, and we hope the audience will also love and be proud of the capital. From that love, we can do many things, no matter how small, for the land we deeply cherish," said Tran Thu Huong, from the Department of Entertainment Program Production, Vietnam Television.
The program will feature performances by many famous artists such as People’s Artist Tan Minh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Hong Nhung, Tung Duong, Trong Tan, Vu Thang Loi, Pham Thu Ha, Bao Tram, Ta Quang Thang, To Loan, Dong Hung, Le Anh Dung, Oplus band, Tuong Linh, violinist Minh Hien, and violinist Hai Ngoc.
Hanoi - The Epic of the Streets will be broadcast live at 20:10 on October 10th on VTV1, VTV Times, and VTVGo. Stay tuned!
