At the meeting, both sides appreciated the development of relations in many fields, especially as trade turnover last year between the two nations reached nearly 400 million US dollars, up 15% compared with 2016. The deputy prime minister urged Portugal, as a member of EU, to promote trade and other links between the EU and Vietnam.
At the meeting with the Portuguese Minister Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs, Deputy PM Hue said social security was an important factor for development, and Portugal shared similarities with Vietnam. The Portuguese minister said the nation plans to co-operate and support Vietnam in research and reform of social insurance and wages policies.
