VTV.vn - Politburo member Truong Thi Mai hosted Buddhist and Catholic delegations who paid Lunar New Year visits to the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation on February 5.

Mai, who heads the Commission, expressed her joy in welcoming Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha, and other Buddhist dignitaries.

She spoke highly of the Buddhist Sangha’s active contributions to the country, especially in the joint efforts to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Party official expressed her hope that the Sangha will continue to encourage Buddhists to strictly follow epidemic prevention rules as well as promote and safeguard traditional Vietnamese culture.

On the same day, Mai also received a delegation from the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, led by Pastor Tran Xuan Manh.

Speaking at the reception, the Politburo member recognised the significant contributions of Vietnamese Catholics and the committee to the nation’s development in the past year.

She expressed her hope that the pastor and committee will work closely with the Central Commission for Mass Mobilisation towards the goal of achieving national prosperity and improving the people’s standards of living.
