Sweden Embassy in Vietnam has announced that 2015 Cikada Awards went to Hoang Thi Y Nhi. She is awarded for her powerful poems that protect the inviolability of life.
Cikada Awards will be held at 7:00pm on November 30th at Sweden Embassy, Hanoi. Poet Y Nhi will receive a cash prize of 20.000 SEK, a certificate and a pottery gift.
Cikada Awards was established in 2004 and given to artists in East Asia. In 2015, the award’s frame has expanded to South East Asia. The award was named after a poem collection by Harry Martinson - a Swedish poet and a Nobel-winner in 1974.
Hoang Thi Y Nhi was born in 1944. She is one of the most famous modern poets in Vietnam with simple and deep melody but the bold line of intellect poem styles.
Y Nhi poems have been translated into various languages. She has published dozens of books, including poems and short stories. Y Nhi received Vietnam Literature Awards for “Nguoi dan ba ngoi dan” in 1985.
