PM meets WTO Director General
VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received WTO Director-General Roberto Azevedo in Hanoi on Friday. The prime minister reiterated Vietnam's commitment to enhancing its role as a member of the World Trade Organisation.

The PM informed his guest of Vietnam’s ratification of a Trade Facilitation Agreement as well as its preparations to approve a protocol amending the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights or TRIPS, in October. He expressed his hope that the WTO would continue supporting Vietnam during its development process, especially in the training of skilled human resources and legal experts, and improving the capacity of Vietnamese businesses in international trade activities.

The WTO Director-General said that Vietnam still holds huge potential for further development as an active member of the WTO. The WTO is ready to augment co-operation with Vietnam, in particular capacity building and training for personnel working for international economic integration. He welcomed Vietnam’s preparations for ratifying TRIPS, saying this important document is tailored to support less-developed countries in particular accessing pharmaceuticals.
