The programme drew the attention of many photographers from across the nation and received many entries. This year's theme tackled Vietnamese beauty.
This is the first ever edition of 'Beauty of Vietnam', featuring 14 different contemporary topics. The event, hosted by the Nhan Dan media organisations, has received great support from the photography community in Vietnam. Most entries are of high quality and uniquely portrays the hottest affairs of Vietnamese people's lives.
"The competition aims to depict Vietnamese beauties including people and architecture. But more importantly, it is designed to promote the beauty of the Vietnamese soul", said Nguyen Duc Dung - Deputy Director of Nhan Dan Television, Nhan Dan Newspaper.
The awards night is not only an opportunity for the most outstanding photographers to exhibit their works and receive awards but also a chance for them to relay the stories behind their artworks. Among thousands of pictures, 'Save the Whale' by Trần Cảnh Yên from Nghe An won the first prize.
"I have seen many other pictures of the same event. However, this one best portrays the atmosphere of the local people and has the best composition. It is a picture that could not have been taken better", said Bui Hoa Tien - Judge of Beauty of Vietnam Contest.
Not only is this the most prestigious event for photographers but it's also an attempt to boost the sense of patriotism and national pride among the people of Vietnam.
