Under a plan submitted to the President, there will be two categories of gifts, with those for heroic mothers and seriously injured war invalids worth VND400,000 (US$17.6) each, and those for war invalids with less severe injuries and martyrs’ families, worth VND200,000 (US$8.8) each.
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) is in charge of the tribute programme.
According to MoLISA Minister Dao Ngoc Dung, the country has over 9 million people recognised as having rendered service to the revolution and the country, making up nearly 10% of the total population.
More than 1.4 million of revolutionary contributors and their families are receiving monthly allowances.
