This year's "Typical Young Vietnamese Family" programme selects and honours couples who have made great efforts to overcome geographical distances, language differences and countless difficulties in life and during the pandemic to build a happy home and spread good values to the community.
The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in collaboration with Phu Nhuan Jewellery Joint Stock Company (PNJ) held a ceremony in Hanoi on December 19, in both online and face-to-face formats, to honour the typical young Vietnamese family in 2021.
This is an activity within the framework of the programme "Building happy young families" for the period 2021-2025, responding to the movement "I love my fatherland" and celebrating the 20th anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day. The target audience of the programme is families with all members being of Vietnamese nationality. In which, the father and mother are married according to the law and are not over 35 years of age.
In addition to the usual criteria for exemplary families, criteria such as active participation in community activities; efforts to overcome difficulties in labour, good production, and business; and good care, education, and protection for children were also considered.
This year's programme gives special priority to young families whose spouses are doctors, nurses, medical staff, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, and young workers who must work away from home.
More than 3 months since its launch, the programme has received 153 records. The organising board selected and honoured 20 typical families. Members of the above families include officials, workers, farmers, public employees, business owners, doctors, pharmacists, police, military, reporters, producers and businesses.
Notably, there are many families where the husband and wife are both medical workers, 24 hours a day on duty on the front lines against the epidemic, such as: the families of Tran Thanh Phuc and Le Thi Be Tuong (Kien Giang), and Nguyen Quang Manh and Nguyen Thi Hai Ly (Thai Nguyen).
In another situation, for the families of Lu Van Thang and Hoang Thi Hoan (Son La), and Tran Khanh Tien and Hoang Thi Bien (Cao Bang), the husbands works in the police force and border guard, and often have to work away from home.
