Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Nghia highlighted the development history of Hung Yen, which was once the busiest commercial port in the Red River Delta region.
The province has experienced fast and comprehensive development with a high economic growth rate at 10.21 percent per year. Its regional gross domestic product (GRDP) expanding 43.5 times in the past 25 years, ranking 16 out of 63 localities nationwide, the official said, adding that Hung Yen’s State budget collection has increased by 210 times in the period.
Hung Yen has seven operating industrial parks, while all of its communes and districts have been recognised as new-style rural areas, making it a new-style rural province in 2020.
Social welfare has been ensured, with per capita income rising to 87.7 million VND per year, and the ratio of poor households has dropped o 1.32 percent, he added. In his remarks, Party General Secretary Trong hailed Hung Yen’s efforts and contributions to the country’s development. He said that despite its small scale in area and population, Hung Yen boasts high potential thanks to its localtion in the northern key economic region and the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh growth triangle, as well as its fertile farming land and rich cultural and historical values.
The Party leader asked Hung Yen to optimise its potential, pay more attention to improving its business and investment environment, upgrading its infrastructure system, ensuring even growth of localities across the province, and boosting industrial and rural development in line with environmental protection.
He reminded the provincial Party organisation to continue popularising the 13th National Party Congress’ Resolution, spurring patriotic movements and encouraging innovation to grow into a modern, civilised and rich industrial province in 2030. With its 80-year history, the provincial Party organisation should uphold its glorious tradition and become a model organisation of the country, improving its leadership capacity and combativeness, he requested.
On the occasion, on behalf of the Party and State, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan presented the Labour Order , first class, to the Party organisation, administration and people of Hung Yen.
