This incident was a sign that Vietnam is possibly being exploited as a transit point for tax evasion. Export items such as plywood, artificial stones, iron, and steel are now being investigated by the US. In addition to the ministries monitoring the origin of goods, businesses themselves also need to be more responsible when it comes to combating origin fraud and tax evasion to avoid hurting the reputations of businesses as well as the exports of the whole economy.
