The US Fisheries Association forecast that the supply of cod, a kind of catfish, will fall to 1.5 million tons in 2019. Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers said the price of tra fish in the Mekong Delta region remained stable, from 31,000 to 33,000 VND/kg. In 2019, the industry is expected to continue growing, with domestic output estimated at 3 million tons, up 4.6% compared to 2018. Such growth in supply will be a great opportunity to boost exports to the US and European markets to make up for the dwindling supply of cod in these markets.
