At Hue Imperial City, the official celebration of Vesak Day is being organised by the Board of Governors of the Buddhist Sangha of Thua Thien-Hue province at Tổ Đình Từ Đàm.
At Tổ Đình Từ Đàm Hue, ritual offerings took place in the morning on Vesak Day. Vesak Day is the day when Buddhists review the life of Shakyamuni Buddha to reflect and follow in his teachings.
Pham Thi Hang, Buddist follower, Hue said: The people of Hue are very happy and hope for a successful Vesak day. We will follow the teachings of Buddha, do more charity work and try to be better people.
At the ceremony, thousands of Buddhists and delegates listened and read a message from the head of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam which called for all Buddhist monks and followers to bring peace and happiness to themselves, their families, prosperity for the country and peace for mankind.
Thich Ke Chon, Monk, Deputy Chief, Standing Committee, Governors of the Buddhist Sangha of Thua Thien Hue province said: The Vesak ceremony reminds us that we should follow the light of knowledge and improve ourselves in order to help the country develop.
The Vesak celbration is one of the event leads to the 8th National Buddhist Congress.
