According to the municipal Department of Tourism, the capital city welcomed 541,311 international visitors, up 17.5% YOY, while serving nearly two million domestic tourists (up 9%).
The city’s total revenue from tourism was estimated at over VND8.7 trillion (over US$374 million) in just August, a 35.2% yearly surge.
In total, the number of visitors arriving in Hanoi is expected to reach over 19.3 million in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 9.5% over the same period last year.
Of this figure, foreign arrivals were estimated to surge 10.5% (nearly 4.3 million) and the estimated figure for domestic tourists was over 15 million, up 9.2%.
The Hanoi municipal tourism sector earned over VND67.2 trillion (nearly US$2.9 billion), up 31.1% year-on-year.
