New Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee appointed

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân and Head of the Party's Central Committee's Organisation Commission Phạm Minh Chính attended the appointing conference.

The Politburo also appointed former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City's Party Committee Đinh La Thăng, to be deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission. The new HCMC Party Committee Secretary Nguyễn Thiện Nhân pledged to do his utmost to fulfil the job assigned by the Party and the government. On the other hand, deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Đinh La Thăng reiterated that he takes responsibility for the limitations and shortcomings of National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) during the period between 2009 and August 2011. He also delivered his sincere apologies to the authority and residents of Ho Chi Minh City.
