The state president welcomed the visit and recalled his warm reception in Madagascar for the Francophone Summit last November. The state president stressed that the two side should further links, especially in agriculture and suggested Madagascar to further support Vietnamese investors. The state president also asked to improve exchanges in agriculture production, food security and climate change mitigation.
Minister Rakotovao stated that with 80% of its population in rural areas, Madagascar hoped to cooperate with Vietnam in agriculture and rural development. The minister believed that closer links would bring practical results in ensuring food security and social-economic development.
