VTV.vn - Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan held meetings with voters and people in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 26, as part of her trip to acquire voters’ opinions ahead of the 7th session of the National Assembly.

At the meetings, Can Tho residents were briefed on the work of NA deputies of Can Tho since after the NA’s 6th session and the planned agenda of the NA’s 7th session.

The residents took the occasion to voice their concern and opinions on the fight against corruption, health insurance, investment in the agricultural sector, the morality and lifestyle of some certain groups among young people, drug crime and school violence, among other issues.

Several voters in Nhon Nghia commune expressed special concern about the impact of climate change on the Mekong Delta, as seen in the serious intrusion of salt water and the decrease of water resources. They asked the NA and relevant agencies to take appropriate measures to help the region adapt to climate change.

Regarding this problem, the NA Chairwoman said the NA will allocate financial resources to fund measures to address salt water intrusion and erosion. She noted that a conference will soon be convened to review the implementation of tasks set at the conference on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta in adaptation to climate change several years ago.

In reply to voters’ concern over the unhealthy lifestyle of some young people, particularly school violence, Chairwoman Ngan urged all-level Party committees, authorities, schools, families and society join hand to stop and prevent the degradation of morality.
