According to the World Health Organization report in 2019, the blood supply in Vietnam for treatment of injuries, accidents, and surgery, for people with diseases requiring blood transfusion only meets 70% of patients' needs.
In addition, after two years of social distancing due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, blood reserves at blood banks and hospitals are still in short supply. Therefore, MSD Vietnam's blood drive is a meaningful program that brings tangible benefit to address one of the most critical healthcare challenges.
Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Deputy Head of Red Cross, District 1, HCMC said: “We highly appreciated when massive MSD Vietnam employees and their families actively responded to the Blood Drive today. One pint of blood can save up to three lives. The blood donated by volunteers today will help save the lives of those in need.”
