More support for people facing difficulties due to COVID-19

VTV.vn - More donation and essentials have been provided to COVID-19 hit people across the nation, aiming to ease their difficulties during this difficult time.

On August 21, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Hanoi, the city's Labour Confederation, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi coordinated to organise a programme to support workers who have lost their jobs as well as students facing difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19.

The organisers presented 2,200 gifts of necessities, with a total value of VND440 million, to 2,200 unemployed workers and students in difficulty in Bac Tu Liem District.

They also provided essentials and medical necessities worth VND101 million to 43 checkpoints for COVID-19 prevention and control in Minh Khai Ward, Bac Tu Liem.

The Hanoi VFF has provided gifts worth VND1 million each to over 3,400 poor households, as well as 84,000 gifts, worth more than VND32 billion in total, to people in difficult circumstances who are staying in the capital during the current extended social distancing period.

On the same day, the Hanoi Police Youth Union provided 10 tonnes of rice and necessities to 1,000 people in difficult circumstances and workers who lost their jobs. This is the third support campaign deployed by young officers of the Hanoi police within a week.

Also on August 21, the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association announced that the "Oxygen ATM" programme launched by the association has collected 1,000 40-litre oxygen tanks from the beginning of August and transferred them to the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City for quick delivery to hospitals to serve in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Currently, the "Oxygen ATM" has established 23 stations to store and provide oxygen tanks to people in need or for emergency cases from 8 am to 5 pm daily. The association also plans to establish an "oxygen ATM post" in Ho Chi Minh City.

That day, Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company (THACO) presented 200,000 COVID-19 test kits and five mobile COVID-19 vaccination trucks worth a total of VND35 billion to Dong Nai Province to support the fight against COVID-19.

THACO also provided 100,000 test kits, COVID-19 vaccines and medical supplies valued at VND22 billion to Ben Tre Province on the same day.

As of August 2021, THACO has supported the epidemic prevention and control in many different forms, with a total value of more than VND730 billion.

On August 21, the Border Guard Command of Soc Trang Province provided 100 gifts worth VND300,000 each, including 10 kg of rice and necessities, to difficult households in the two communes of An Thanh 3 and An Thanh Nam in Cu Lao Dung District.
