MoIT has sent an urgent document to People’s Committees of localities with products exported abroad to ensure the “dual goal” of preventing & controlling COVID-19 prevention & control while maintaining socio-economic development and social security.

Accordingly, the MoIT asked the People’s Committees of the northern border provinces to direct local agencies and functional forces to promote a “green channel” for exporting qualified lychees while encouraging businesses to export products via borders in the official form.

The localities need to enhance exchanges with authorities of neighbouring countries to create favourable conditions and increase clearance time for agricultural products that are being to be harvested, especially lychees.

The MoIT also required the local People’s Committees to continue updating the progress of good delivery and customs clearance at the border gates and related issues as well as promptly reporting any arising problems to the ministry and relevant agencies.

The People’s Committees of localities that have exported agricultural products via borders should direct relevant agencies to regularly update information and situation from the northern border provinces to proactively consider and adjust the pace of transporting goods in accordance with the clearance capacity of the border gates.

It is crucial to provide local farmers, production facilities and processing and exporting enterprises of agricultural products and fresh fruits with goods clearance at the northern border gates so that the owners can proactively plan to produce, pack, deliver and export products.

The relevant agencies and enterprises should rapidly and strongly shift the export of goods to the Chinese market through official channels as well as strictly implement regulations on traceability, growing area codes, packing facilities, labelling and others to improve the products’ quality.

By the end of May 25, nearly 4,000 tonnes of lychee from Hai Duong, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc provinces have been exported to China via the Kim Thanh 2 international road border gate.
