After broadcasting more than 200 episodes and accompanying over 40 father-child pairs across 25 of Vietnam’s 34 provinces and cities, the reality TV program Father and Child: A Thousand-Mile Journey officially launches a special talk show series titled Miles with My Child. This new series will offer in-depth conversations about parenting, companionship, and the journey of growing up together in modern society.
The year 2025 was a time of rapid social change, marked by accelerating work rhythms, technological advancements, social media influence, and the growing integration of AI into daily life. In this fast-paced landscape, core values such as family connection, inner nurturing, and mutual listening become increasingly essential, yet also more easily overlooked. In Father and Child: A Thousand-Mile Journey, the journeys were never merely about overcoming challenges. They were designed to create “life situations” in which parents and children could face one another more honestly, more closely, and with deeper understanding. Miles with My Child emerges as a natural extension of that spirit, offering fathers a space to step away from their role as guides to become storytellers and reflect on their own journeys of fatherhood.
Miles with My Child is built around four main thematic pillars. Each guest brings a distinct parenting philosophy shaped by family background, personality, profession, and life experience. These perspectives were expressed during Father and Child: A Thousand-Mile Journey.
Through moments of harmony and conflict, strengths and limitations between fathers and children during shared experiences, the series explores how each journey impacted the participants’ lives. What did fathers and children realize, learn, or feel compelled to change, sometimes in tiny but pivotal ways? The program also examines the long-term impact of Father and Child: A Thousand-Mile Journey on participants' lives. Each story is a unique piece contributing to a multi-dimensional portrait of parenthood.
The Miles with My Child series brings together four representative guests who embody different educational and parenting perspectives. The series is hosted by director Nguyen Manh Ha, who is a father and a participant of Father and Child: A Thousand-Mile Journey. Other guests include photographer Hai Le Cao, rapper Phong Windy, who emphasizes respecting children’s emotions and learning to accompany rather than impose, actor Ha Viet Dung, and singer Do Hoang Hiep. In addition to four individual talk show episodes, the series features two paired-dialogue episodes that place guests in direct conversation to highlight their differences and intersections in their parenting philosophy.
Rather than offering rigid formulas of right and wrong, Miles with My Child opens space for dialogue. The series acknowledges that while every family's journey with their children is unique, yet the common ground is always love and the shared desire for children to grow up whole and fulfilled.
Miles with My Child is scheduled to air on VTV3 at 7:10 AM, from Tuesday to Sunday with six consecutive episodes starting at 7:10 AM from Tuesday to Sunday.
