VTV.vn - As a result of climate change, drought and saline intrusion are causing huge losses for Mekong Delta provinces.

11 out of 13 provinces have announced a disaster situation due to drought and severe salinisation. 160,000 hectares of rice cultivation in the region have been affected by saltwater intrusion, and around 150,000 households are currently facing fresh water shortages. According to statistics, the four provinces suffering the heaviest losses are Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, and Ben Tre.

At the moment, the localities are concentrating on controlling salt water intrusion, as well as a shortage of fresh water for agricultural production.
