Experts forecast that the water level in the upstream area of the Mekong River to rise rapidly. In the areas of Tan Chau, Khanh An, Xuan To in An Giang Province, the current water level is higher than that of last year by 1 to 2 meters. Data from My Thuan and Can Tho Observation Stations shows that the local water levels in the Tien River and the Hau River will rise rapidly. These are predicted to surpass the first alarm level in the next 4 days.
However, there is not much to worry about as this is actually good news for the locals, especially the fishermen and boat makers. The water flow is believed to bring a rich source of fish and the demand for new boats will also rise.
