VTV.vn - Ly Son Island District in Quang Ngai Province is the first locality in the country to ban plastic bags.

The island district is only over 10 square kilometres with a population of more than 22,000 people. Every day, the island receives about 600 tourists.

Lacking waste treatment facilities, the island has suffered from the use of plastic bags that have littered the area. It's obvious to see pollution problems on the island.

Ly Son Island District plans to ban plastic bags on Be Island, An Binh Commune. Here, people will be encouraged to abandon plastic bags and instead use recycled alternatives. This will then be implemented throughout the islands in the district.
