VTV.vn - Two patients that underwent liver and heart transplants in just over a fortnight at the Viet Duc Hospital have been released. The organs were transferred by air from brain-dead patients in Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

The two patients, aged 37 and 59 were nearing critical but since the operations they seem to be well on the way to recovery. The operations have underlined the increasingly routine nature of the procedures.

Tran Ngoc Hai, Liver transplant patient said: “I felt touched and happy. I didn’t think the surgery would be as successful. It seemed to go fine here, I know there many other patients that have been treated abroad, but may take 1 to 2 years to feel better.”

These types of operations are becoming increasingly common with Vietnamese surgeons and medical staff equal to the challenges posed.
