Today (December 20), the solemn celebration marking the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 – December 22, 2024) and the 35th Anniversary of All-People National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 – December 22, 2024) will take place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense jointly hosted the event.
The ceremony will be attended by current and former leaders of the Party, the State, and the Army, along with veteran revolutionaries, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and senior military commanders from various generations. A celebration highlight will be an epic artistic performance, featuring impressive musical and dance performances that encapsulate the history of the Army’s founding, its battles and victories while emphasizing the important role of the Vietnam People’s Army in the nation’s development and defense.

On December 19, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), chaired a comprehensive inspection of the program’s preparations at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. The inspection was attended by leaders from units under the VPA General Political Department, the VPA General Staff, and representatives from several press and media agencies.
The celebration will be live broadcast on Vietnam Television (VTV1), the Voice of Vietnam, and the National Defense Television Channel at 9:00 AM on December 20, 2024.
