The Pu Ta Leng XC Open 2020 is being organised to promote and introduce the outstanding values of nature, culture and people of Lai Chau to a large number of people , particularly domestic and international tourists. The event is expected to stimulate tourism demand, attract investors, and create a new breakthrough for provincial tourism in the current development trend of tourism in Vietnam.
This is also the basis for building a system of annual paragliding tournaments in Lai Chau province in the near future. Through the event, the organising board hopes to attract many Vietnamese and international paragliding pilots, and further promote the development of paragliding in Vietnam.
This year’s event features the participation of nearly 100 Vietnamese and international paragliding pilots with about 17 pilots and technicians controlling the hot air balloons.
Contestants will take off from Si Thau Chai Village, part of Putaleng in Tam Duong District, and later land at the district sport centre.
Besides the paragliding tournament, one stationary hot air balloon and six miniature equivalents will be available for visitors at Tam Duong Stadium and Lai Chau Provincial People's Square.
A mini hot air balloon show will be held on the final day of the tournament.
At 3,049 metres, Putaleng on Hoang Lien Son Mountain is Vietnam's second highest peak after Fansipan (3,143 metres).
