Kite festival attracts hobbyists in Hanoi

The event helped introduce the Vietnamese tradition to Hanoians and kite lovers from all over the country and abroad. These flute kites took off when the drum started. They are flute kites made to compete in the flute kite festival held for the first time in Hanoi. If the kite falls, it is disqualified from the competition.

The images of the traditional flute kite reminds many people of the peaceful Vietnamese countryside. After all those years, 80-year old Nguyen Van Quyền still keeps a passion for kiteflying.

For young children, this is also the first time they can play and learn how to make kites. Through this activity, they learn how much effort kite artisans put into their work.

This festival is a good opportunity for parents and their children to learn about a feature of Vietnamese traditional culture.
