In the March edition of Kind Deeds, themed “Sowing Green Sunlight”, three stories from three different regions converge at a shared point: each person, in their own way, is quietly spreading rays of kindness and faith in life in their own way.
A One-Legged Girl Dancing Through Life in High Heels
Be Thi Bang's story has deeply moved many. She is a disabled woman who won the highest title at the Miss Crescent Moon Beauty 2019 pageant.
At the age of 24, she lost one leg in a sudden accident. This turned her life upside down, but instead of giving up, she chose to move forward with strength, wearing high heels and dancing to fully embrace her passion.
Beyond her personal journey, Bang has extended her compassion through the “Crutches of Love” project, personally funding and donating almost 200 pairs of crutches to people with disabilities. This later led to the “Wheelchairs of Love” initiative, through which she has provided nearly 20 wheelchairs to those in need. For her, each small gift irepresents more than just mobility; it restores confidence and hope.
A Central Highlands Woman Planting Seeds of Kindness for 12 Years
In the red basalt land of Dak Lak, Duong Thi Tuyet and the Krong Nang Bridge of Love Club have been volunteering for over a decade. Starting from humble beginnings, their efforts have grown into a source of pride for the entire community.
They have provided reproductive health education to prevent early marriage for more than 5,000 female students, as well as offering 80,000 free meals have been provided to students in remote areas. They have also awarded 300 scholarships through the Sunflower Project to help help children stay in school, and distributed 77,000 cartons of milk through the Milk Fund for Highland Children. These are not just numbers, but thousands of smiles and hopes blossoming across remote villages.
A Young Man Spending 20 Years Turning Waste into Green Hope
Hailing from the small hometown in Ly Nhan, Ninh Binh, Vu Quang Huy has devoted two decades of his youth to quietly doing meaningful work for the community.
Starting out as an active member of the local youth union, he initiated the “Reviving Plastic Waste” movement, encouraging local young people to collect and recycle waste in order to fund charitable activities. Sack by sack and truckload by truckload, they have collected hundreds of tons of waste, contributing to environmental protection and raising community awareness.
He and the other members of the Ly Nhan Volunteer Youth Club then went on to establish a tree nursery to support planting campaigns during holidays and festivals. The club has grown from a small group to over 100 members and maintains year-round initiatives such as Warm Tet, Green Summer, Mid-Autumn for Children, and Warm Winter.
