The event gave local people an authentic insight into Japanese culture. The festival started off with kimono dance by little dancers, followed by a yosakoi dance. Visitors also had the chance to participate in a game that featured the pounding of rice cake and the opportunity to enjoy the popular food takoyaki.
"This was the 13th year that the event has been held. The festival was not only a gathering for Japanese living in Vietnam, but also a chance to enhance relations between Vietnam and Japan", said a Vietnamese festival goer.
Many Japanese children and adults living in Hanoi performed and were involved in the festival. This was a get-together for those who live far away from home.
The festival was also a chance for Vietnamese people to learn more about Japanese culture. The volunteers spent 3 years to collect Japanese books from Japanese living in the country to introduce in the festival.
