The event will include yoga performances which will take place in six provinces and cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (June 18), Da Nang (June 19), Hai Phong (June 21), Nha Trang (June 25) and Vinh (July 2).
According to the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, June 21 was declared as the international Day of Yoga by the UN General Assembly on December 11, 2014.
Vietnam was one of the first countries to co-sponsor the UN General Assembly Resolution. So far, 177 out of 193 UN member states have joined as co-sponsors, creating a new record for the highest number of co-sponsoring countries to date for a UN resolution.
The declaration came after the call for the adoption of June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the UN General Assembly on September 27 last year.
From now until June 26, free practice sessions starting at 7am will be provided at the Indian Embassy in Hanoi with instruction and guidance provided by a yoga master.
