The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai, Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen provincial People’s Committee, delegates from the Malaysian Embassy and the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam, along with leaders of departments and branches in the province.
Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the event promises to offer an opportunity to promote traditional products and the unique cuisines of Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam to international visitors.
The week will feature the participation of 25 artisans, teachers and students of Teknologi Mara University, Malaysia and two Batik artisans from Indonesia.
Meanwhile the Vietnamese delegation includes 30 artisans comprised of representatives from the six ethnic groups of the Mong, Dao, Thai, Cham, Tay and Pa Then.
During the festival, a series of exhibitions will display Vietnamese Ao Dai, traditional costumes of Malaysia and Indonesia, an Indonesian Batik painting performance, a Vietnamese embroidery performance and a Malaysian culinary competition.
In addition, cross-cultural exchanges to promote Thai Nguyen tea and discover the cultures of ASEAN, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam are also planned during the week.
