Indian government asks Whatsapp for better news regulation
VTV.vn - The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India has required the Whatsapp, the widely used US-based messaging platform, come out with "more effective solutions" to prevent incidents of mob violence.

This is an official warning form the Indian government after over 20 incidents of mob violence took place with the involvement of WhatsApp network.

Incidents include a software engineer lynched by a mob over child lifting rumours that were spread on social media, including WhatsApp.

The Facebook-owned company on Thursday was warned that it could face legal action "if they remain mute spectators" when rumours and fake news are propagated through such mediums.
