VTV.vn - The Central Inter-Sectorial Steering Committee on Food Safety held a session in Hanoi on Friday, to review its performance in the first half of 2018 and propose tasks for the remaining of the year.

The session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, who is also Head of the steering committee.

Speaking at the session, he emphasized the need for relevant ministries and agencies to build a more effective information dissemination plan in order to raise awareness of food hygiene and safety amongst farmers and businesses.

The Committee, he said, should continue to find ways to help consumers avoid unsafe goods, adding that more should also be done to improve the legal framework and supervision of all stages of food production to better ensure food safety. Since January, supervisory teams at all levels have detected over 68,000 production units that have violated the law on food safety.
