VTV.vn - A delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders offered incense and flowers to revolutionary heroes at the municipal Martyrs’ Cemetery on April 29 to mark the 46th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.

They expressed their deep gratitude to the significant contributions of those who have sacrificed their lives for national independence and liberty.

The delegation then paid tribute to the late leaders, revolutionaries and fallen soldiers at the Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery in Thu Duc City and the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial in Cu Chi District.

At the Ho Chi Minh Museum, municipal Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen offered incense and flowers to President Ho Chi Minh and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the nation’s founder.

The Ho Chi Minh City delegation also paid tribute to President Ton Duc Thang at his memorial site in District 4.

A gala programme was held on the pedestrian street of Nguyen Hue on the evening of April 29, featuring popular revolutionary songs to celebrate the great victory of 1975 that liberated southern Vietnam and reunified the country.

On the same day, ceremonies were held in other cities and provinces in southern Vietnam to mark the 46th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification.

In Hanoi, an exhibition opened at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel showcasing nearly 100 pictures of historic moments in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on April 30, 1975. The exhibition will last until the end of May.
